| About Payment Protection Insurance (PPI)... |

PPI is insurance that is taken out alongside a loan; its purpose is to help you continue paying the monthly payments on your loan – whether that be a mortgage, loan, credit or store card – should you become unable to work through no fault of your own i.e. sickness, accident or unemployment. |

Although PPI sounds good from the offset, it adds around 20% to the cost of a loan and in most cases, does not pay out following a claim; as a result, it has recently been described as 'an even bigger scandal than unfair bank charges'.

The PPI industry is worth £5billion thanks to more than 20 million PPI policies in the UK, but, there is increasing evidence that consumers have been mis-sold PPI, either buying policies that they do not understand, being made to believe that buying PPI is compulsory and in some cases or being sold PPI without even knowing it.
